LIVE AT THE STAR COURT

On September 1, I was joined by Brett Hamlyn, Mark Bromley, Ruth Woodhams and Wendy Ford to perform a few of my original songs at the Star Court Theatre in Lismore. The occasion was the screening of the movie The Bentley Effect,  created by Brendan Shoebridge. It was a great occasion and we were all very happy to be involved. Please see a mash-up of some highlights below

FLOOD-BOAT FANNY

I returned to my family home in Lismore in March 2017 after a tumultuous five months in Guatemala, hoping for a little R and R. Within a week, we were dealing with the biggest flood in a generation and my entire downstairs studio was swamped in 80 cm of stinking brown water. As I flushed out the disgusting mud, I was inspired to write this song. Not a tale of destruction and woe however. It is a story of the life-affirming experience of support and love from the people around me, both friends and strangers. Congratulations Lismore on being such a wonderful community! Please share this song, buy it on iTunes or any other digital outlet. Every dollar raised will be donated to the Lismore Council flood relief fund.

Available on iTunes, CD Baby and all the usual digital outlets

SWEET SWYAMBHU SUNRISE

In mid-2014, I was happily marooned in Kathmandhu. I was trying to make a pilgrimage to the holy Mount Kailash in Tibet, but the Chinese government refused to play ball. I took a room near the ancient hill top temple complex in Swyambhu. The surrounding forests were crawling with monkeys and the place was imbued with an ancient magic. These photos, mainly of Kathmandu and surrounds were taken before the catastrophic quake of 2015, so some of the buildings are no longer around.

Link temporarily out of service sorry! Will have it up and running again soon

DEWATHANG DITTY

It is a privilege to visit the enchanted Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, so how lucky was I to spend many months living in the remote Eastern corner of this beautiful land. I had to oversee the design and construction of a large composting toilet block for a monastery. I also ended up directing a team installing some stunning chandeliers. My local friend challenged me to write a song about how boring it is in this out of the way village called Dewathang. To my surprise, everyone loved the song, even if it is a little mocking.

Thanks to Dzongsar Jamyang Khyentse Rinpoche for this and many other inspirations in my life.

FLAMES OF MY REMAINS

Do you ever feel like it is time to pull yourself by the bootstraps, ditch the drudgery of every day life,  and plunge into the unknown?

Is there something nagging you to devote your entire energy to your passions rather than your responsibilities?

If not, why not? (Hopefully because you are already doing it!)

WHO PUT THE BUDS IN MY BOOGIE BOARD BAG?

Always pack your own suitcase, guys. Imagine arriving at the airport in Bali and having the customs officer discover 5kg of marijuana in your boogie board bag! These things happen guys…
